44 projects win Wu Wenjun Award
A total of 44 AI projects received the Wu Wenjun AI Science & Technology Award (hereinafter referred to as Wu Wenjun Award) at the recent award ceremony held in SIP. Wu Wenjun Award, named after the prestigious Chinese mathematician and AI master Wu Wenjun, is sponsored by Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI) and known as "China's supreme award in smart science and technology". The award ceremony is held each year to commend institutions, individuals and projects with outstanding contributions to AI development.
At the 2017 Annual Meeting of Chinese AI Industry, Li Deyi, board chairman of CAAI and academician at Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), made a keynote speech. Li believes that AI has become a new engine for economic development and an accelerator for social development. He buttressed his view with the typical cases of AlphaGo and Tesla self-driving cars.
"Smart technology has a promising future as long as we endeavor for it step by step," Lu Jianhua, dean of School of Information Science and Technology at Tsinghua University and academician at Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), said at the 2017 Annual Meeting of Chinese AI Industry.
The smart rearview mirror for cars, developed by AISpeech, an SIP-based natural language interaction solution supplier, became an eye-catcher at the 2017 Annual Meeting of Chinese AI Industry.
New Tranx, a Chinese natural language processing technology developer, won this year's Wu Wenjun Award for technology innovation. Its independently developed smart language service platform, which provides fast translation services in 36 languages with an accuracy rate of over 90%, has made a breakthrough in translation efficiency and global communication.
