SBT premieres original ballet

Tang Yin, a ballet produced by Suzhou Ballet Theatre (SBT) based on the life experience of an ancient Chinese scholar of the same name, premiered at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre on Sept 7.

Instead of realistic expression, the ballet incorporates a variety of symbolic elements, such as red robe, ink and peach blossom, to reflect the characters' personalities and depict their inner mind, aiming to trigger off the audiences' imagination from a unique perspective.

Moreover, the ballet adopts music composed by Arvo Part, an Estonian composer who represents music of minimalist style, to give the audiences a different experience.

SBT, founded in 2007, is the only professional ballet troupe in Jiangsu province and the sixth in the country. Tang Yin, its seventh original work, is created to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
