Liang Heng talks about reading

At the "Chinese Reading" Workshop held on July 15, Liang Heng, a famous Chinese scholar and writer, gave a talk on how reading changes life. Liang underlined two points, "First, we read for a strong mind. Second, reading is not just an individual behavior but also a state action." He highly praised the Jiangsu Book Fair for benefiting all the Chinese readers.

"What reading first takes to us is not knowledge or thought, but the sense of beauty," Liang said. "So, a reader should first feel happy once he/she begins to read." Mentioning his own creation, Liang said, "My mission is to spread thoughts and aesthetics to more people." He added that he does not expect everyone to read his books, but he will try to arouse the interest of more readers with beautiful things in the books.
