Cultivate talents for various industries

Relying on NUS'educational resources and scientific research achievements, NUSRI established the International Education Center (IEC), aimed at providing a knowledge and experience sharing platform for global experts and scholars. IEC has launched a variety of programs to offer opportunities for Chinese university students to work as interns in Singapore during summer vacation, organize overseas students to visit China, cultivate master and doctoral students as well as host administration trainings and international seminars and symposiums.

NUSRI has organized more than 400 overseas students from Spain, France, the United States, Australia, Singapore, Japan and India to study in China. On the other hand, it has organized a number of Chinese undergraduate students to attend specialized courses in Singapore during summer vacation. These programs broaden the students' horizons and encourage them to make innovation, reserving high-level talents for economic globalization.

Additionally, NUSRI has taken a lead nationwide to pilot the "Industry-University Joint Doctors Cultivation Program", aimed at meeting local industrial circles' demand for high-level scientific research talents through cooperation with world-class universities. It also offers short-term trainings based on the successful Singaporean practices, such as the courses on leadership, industrial park construction and harmonious society administration that target government officials and enterprises' senior executives. NUSRI provided trainings for 3,890 people in 2016.
