Stop Two: Dongshahu Neighborhood Center

The 5th "Sungent Cup" Suzhou Youth Science Popularization Community Tour 2016 walked into SIP Dongshahu Neighborhood Center, the second stop of the event series, on Nov 19. Three competitions, namely, "Braving Winds and Waves" amphibious yacht race, "Marching Forward Bravely" simple robot assembly contest, and "Soaring up into the Sky" hand thrown airplane cross race, were staged for the youth to experience the charm of science and technology.

The robot assembly contest saw many parents and even grandparents work together with their children. "My robot covered the distance in 13 seconds, and I'm very happy with it," said 11-year-old Wang Suchen, happily. Now member of a robot interest class, the robot fan tries to do some assembling by himself whenever he is free.

The community tour was just the platform he wanted to demonstrate his love for science and technology. According to Wang's mother, every team was requested to finish assembling, testing and racing within the time limit, which was a challenge not only to the children, but also to the family's teamwork. She encourages her child to take part in competitions like this and learn from doing.
