“This is an opportune help,” an executive at SIP-based electronics company Celestica (Suzhou) said several days ago after receiving the goods from China-Europe Truck Delivery (Jiangsu) Co Ltd. “The goods from Germany is exactly what we need to resume the operations that have been suspended due to the recent outbreak of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19),” the executive added.

China-Europe Truck Delivery (Jiangsu) Co Ltd is a logistics company in SIP. It provides truck services for China-Europe cargo delivery that can save nearly half of the time compared with railway delivery and reduce costs by 40% in comparison with air freight. Considering the recent cancellation of many international flights and shipping routes due to the COVID-19, the company is enhancing its services to ensure enough supplies for SIP-based enterprises to get back on track after a temporary closedown to prevent the disease.

“We sent notifications to our staff in Europe, Hong Kong and several domestic cities soon after the epidemic broke out so that they could make proper preparations for cargo transportation during the epidemic. Besides, we provide free delivery of anti-epidemic supplies, and have launched a new service since Feb 14 to allow different enterprises to share a truck,” said Hu Rongyi, general manager of the company.

“It is not easy to maintain normal operations along the routes when there are road control, lockdown, closedown and inspections all the way through due to the epidemic, but we have managed it,” he said, revealing that the company has handled over 30 orders worth over RMB 10 million over the past ten days.
