Sex education program for kids receives positive response

SIP Working Committee on Women hosted an event at Jingcheng Community Club on Jan 11, looking back on a sex education program it carried out over the past year among kids aged 6 and below and giving awards to individuals and organizations with good performance under the program. 
 
Starting in April 2019, the program was aimed at helping local youngsters acquire a better understanding of human growth, development and sexuality as well as teaching them methods of protecting themselves from sex harassment and abuse. It included four sets of on- and off-line courses for kids, parents and school teachers along with distribution of handouts on sex education and gender equality, picture-book-based activities, children’s plays, etc. 
 
At the event, SIP Working Committee on Women revealed that, as planned, the program toured to 100 communities, five enterprises and 105 kindergartens and received positive response from over 20,000 participants.
 
Concurrently, the committee disclosed that it plans to launch a program of the kind targeting at the 7- to 12-year-olds.
