The 2019 China Telecom “Hello 5G Cup” Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race took place at Jinji Lake, SIP on the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival which, reckoned on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, fell on June 7 this year.

The event started with an opening ceremony where invited guests dotted eyes for the Chinese dragon-shaped boats using writing brush and beat a gong to kick off the race.

After that, following rhythmic drums, 66 teams consisting of 1,348 members, including 238 from other countries and regions, competed in the 12-men and 12-women 300-meter straightaway races and 22-people 300-meter straightaway races.

After fierce competition, the team from China-Panama Cultural Center won the men’s race, while the one from University of Venice won the women’s race and the one from Suzhou Longqian Auto Trade Co Ltd won the 22-people race. The winners received the awards.

Diverse parallel events were held concurrently at the lake banks, including a bazaar with cultural and creative products related to the Dragon Boat Festival, flash mob shows, charity campaigns and the release of stamps designed for the 10th anniversary of Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race.

It is noteworthy that China Telecom provided support for the event with its new 5G network services.
