SIP has been endeavoring over the past 25 years to build a “good-looking” industrial park, and its efforts have paid off as it has ranked first in national environmental evaluations again and again.

SIP’s achievements in environmental improvement first stem from its strict pollution control. The local authorities have been innovating on their working mechanisms and services to enhance environmental monitoring and law enforcement for pollution control. They have also collaborated with related experts, enterprises and social organizations to jointly get rid of pollution sources.

On the other hand, SIP authorities offers preferential policies and lofty incentives to encourage local enterprises to adopt eco-friendly operation modes and make pollution-free products through technical innovation and upgrading. This has led to considerably reduced consumption of coals and other polluting fuels as well as continuous increase of clean energy projects in the area.

Moreover, the local authorities have established effective supervision and responsibility systems to protect waters and soil. For example, a three-level “river chief system” is in action, with 262 designated “river chiefs” in charge of sewage treatment and water protection in different zones, and a survey was carried out last year to learn about local soil environment and urge concerned enterprises to cope with pollutions in their operations.

All the efforts mentioned above have jointly contributed to the beautiful landscapes today in SIP.
