"It's so fast," said Wu who finished downloading two films in seconds at China Mobile's office at Xinghai Square, SIP. The office is offering chances for customers to experience their new 5G technology.

Yang Bo, 5G project manager at China Mobile (Suzhou), told Suzhou Daily that the average speed of 5G network can reach 100 to 200 Mb/s when lots of users share the network, 400 to 500 Mb/s when it is used through professional test terminals and 1.5Gb/s through specialized 5G terminals.

Moreover, Yang revealed that the new technology not only enables faster and more reliable network transmission, but also supports connection with smart and automated applications such as robots and VR glasses. For example, at the China Mobile office at North Suzhou Bus Station, the VR glasses offer a breathtaking panorama of Jinji Lake and its surroundings.

"In the future, the technology will enable people to watch live broadcasts of concerts and sports games as if they were on site," Yang said, disclosing that the technology has already been used in media reports and live streaming of large events.

It is reported that Suzhou is among five cities in the country to first pilot the 5G network, and China Mobile (Suzhou) plans to operationalize a total of 100 pilot stations across the city this year.
