A group of SIP officials led by Wu Qingwen, member of the Standing Committee of CPC Suzhou Committee and secretary of SIP Party Working Committee, had a meeting on Jan 17 with Ichiro Otsuka, chairman at Japanese drug maker Otsuka Holdings Co Ltd, and his contingent.

Otsuka Holdings, founded in Japan in 1921, manufactures and markets pharmaceutical products and nutritional supplements. It has 183 subsidiaries and affiliates across the world, including the Suzhou Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co Ltd (Otsuka Suzhou) erected in SIP in 2007 with a total investment of US$ 168 million.

At the meeting, Wu congratulated Otsuka Suzhou for their success last year in managing to obtain the official approvals for the production and marketing of several new products in Chinese mainland. He then gave the guests a specific introduction to SIP's business environment and services, hoping Otsuka Holdings can expand its operations in the area.

Ichiro Otsuka spoke highly of SIP's pro-business policies and services and gave the SIP officials a detailed account of their development strategies and outcomes, expressing expectations for a more prosperous development of the Suzhou branch in the future.
