Free skating course offered on National Fitness Day

A free skating training session was offered to a number of children at Suzhou Center's Champion Ice Rink on Aug 8 to mark the National Fitness Day that is annually observed on the day to arouse the public's awareness of physical fitness. Gao Tingyu, a Chinese skater who won a bronze medal in the Men's 500m speed skating at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics in South Korea, joined the coaches to teach the children skating skills.

According to the operator of the ice rink, the event is paired with an essay competition that will last till Aug 25 to encourage the participants at the training session to express their feelings about skating, and the winners will have chances to take home wonderful prizes.

It is reported that, in response to the nationwide health awareness campaign, many other sports and fitness facilities across SIP such as badminton courts, sports centers and climbing clubs were free to the public on the day, and diverse events like sports competitions and health lectures were held.
