Youngsters try to help exceptional children with 3D printing designs
Hudong sub-district authority organized an event on Aug 4, offering the local youngsters a chance to design assistive devices that can be produced by 3D printers for physically and mentally challenged children.
At the beginning, a researcher from Institute of Orthopedics at Soochow University and an engineer from Johnson & Johnson Medical (Suzhou) Ltd respectively gave the youngsters a detailed account of the application of 3D printing in medical rehabilitation and the advantages of 3D-printed devices.
After that, the volunteers from Johnson & Johnson Medical (Suzhou) Ltd taught the youngsters to design low-cost and customized assistive devices for the exceptional children. It is learnt that the finished devices will be presented to children who need them.
