SIP Library offers pre-job training to community librarians
SIP Library hosted a training session on Aug 7, in a move to help nearly 30 people who will soon start to work as librarians at community reading rooms prepare themselves for the job.
The event consisted of courses, occupational experiences and tests in simulated scenarios, covering all the skills and abilities that a librarian should possess.
It is learnt that SIP will set up 85 new community reading rooms this year, reaching a total of 103 by the end of the year. By then, the local readers will be able to find a reading room within a 1 km radius of their homes. The reading rooms offer services in collaboration with SIP Library, allowing the readers to borrow and return books owned by the library using their citizen or library cards.
