1st "SIP Charity" summer camp wraps up

Thirty students from financially challenged families in SIP enjoyed several happy days from July 30 to Aug 3 as members of the 1st "SIP Charity" summer camp sponsored by SIP Federation of Trade Unions in collaboration with several other local organizations. The event was aimed at helping the youngsters broaden their horizons and enrich their knowledge.

The summer camp opened at Jiangsu Emergency Rescue Center, where the youngsters had a tour round the center, watched a film about firefighting and took a lesson on fire prevention.

On the second day, the youngsters visited a water service company and Cold Spring Harbor Asia DNA Learning Center to learn knowledge on water resources and DNA. They also watched an animated movie at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre Cineplex and visited Jinji Lake Art Museum.

On the third day, the youngsters gained a better understanding of dairy production procedures at a dairy factory, acquired safety knowledge and emergency response skills at SIP Training Management Center, and learnt about volunteerism at SIP Volunteers Association.

The fourth-day activity took place at HB World, where the youngsters gained a better knowledge of how films are made, experienced lots of high-tech amusement projects designed based on movie scenes and enjoyed delicate food at a film-themed restaurant.

On the last day, the youngsters toured around SIP Dushu Lake Library and attended a reading session there. At last, they received gifts prepared by the camp organizers based on an earlier wish survey among them.
