SIP teaching support program concludes
An art show and commendation ceremony took place at Yong'an Primary School, Songtao Miao autonomous county in Southwest China's Guizhou province on Aug 3, marking the conclusion of SIP Azalea Students Assistance Federation (SIP-ASAF)'s 12-day teaching support program.
SIP-ASAF launched the program in 2016 to offer educational assistance annually to students in poverty-stricken areas. Starting from July 23, a total of 22 volunteer teachers from Suzhou and Guizhou's Weng'an County taught a wide range of courses such as those on Chinese, math, music, fine arts and science to the school's third, fourth and fifth graders.
At the event, the volunteer teachers and over 90 students at the school jointly staged singing, dancing and farce performances. The students wrote down their dreams on paper cards and let them fly with balloons as a token of aspiration for a bright future. The teachers with excellent performance during the program received awards.
Apart from that, a Suzhou-based company donated hot water facilities used for bathrooms to the school.
