World Population Day events underway in SIP
A parent-child sports meet took place at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre, SIP on July 15, as one of a series of events organized by SIP Social Affairs Bureau to mark the World Population Day which is observed on July 11 every year to raise awareness of global population issues.
A total of 110 families with kids aged from 6 months to 4 years old took part in the event. In six groups, the kids competed on their own or together with their parents in two fun games. The top three place winners in each group were declared finally.
Apart from that, medical experts from Children's Hospital of Soochow University and Suzhou Maternal and Newborn Healthcare Center provided free consultancy, diagnosis and vaccination services to the families.
It is learnt that other World Population Day events also include free health lectures, health awareness campaigns and free traditional Chinese medical treatments offered by 19 public medical institutions in SIP.
