Children's "Oscar" held in SIP
The award ceremony of the 4th SIP Competition of Plays Adapted from Children's Picture Books was held at SIP Youth & Children Center on June 9. The winners received awards and several of the award-winning plays were staged.
The competition, sponsored by the Organizing Committee of SIP Cultural and Sports Festival and organized by SIP Library, was launched in March in a move to encourage children to adapt picture books into plays and perform them on stage.
After preliminary evaluation, 10 of 47 entries from kindergarten children and 10 from primary school students advanced to the finals. Eventually, the winners of Best Director, Best Scenarist, Best Scenic Design, Most Popular Star and Best Performers emerged.
Concurrently, SIP Library unveiled its Picture Book Reading and Creation Platform which is designed to recommend picture books to children as well as help them create and publish their own pictures and adapt them into plays. Additionally, the first SIP Collection of Original Picture Books was released.
