Refined art demonstrated at SJLAF

Claudio Abbado, an Italian conductor, will join hands with Chinese pianist Li Yundi and Suzhou Symphony Orchestra (SZSO) to stage a concert at Suzhou Jinji Lake Concert Hall on Sept 30. The performance will be another highlight of the 6th (2017) Suzhou Jinji Lake Arts Festival (SJLAF), an annual event held in Suzhou since 2012.

As the previous sessions of the event, this year's SJLAF is also aimed at offering local citizens a chance to get close to refined art. It centers on four themes to demonstrate various art forms, such as dance, music, stage play, musical, sculptures and films.

The festival kicked off with Tang Yin, an original ballet by SZSO, at Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre on Sept 7, followed by a number of art events, such as the Chinese Young Sculptors' Invitational Exhibition on Sept 9, the stage play Romeo and Juliet on Sept 23, and the Overseas Films Exhibition Suzhou Tour of the 26th (2017) Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival from Sept 20 to 23.

In addition, Aida, a romantic epic opera, will be staged by SZSO in collaboration with foreign partners on Oct 27 and 28.
