New Campus of Suzhou Pingtan School in SIP Put into Use

With 40,000-square-meter land area and 28,400-square-meter construction area, the new campus of Suzhou Pingtan School located on No. 8, Yuxin Road by Dushu Lake, Suzhou Industrial Park(SIP), was officially opened on September 1.

With the opening ceremony of the new academic year, "the most beautiful voice of China", so praised by the famous Taiwan Sinology Master Yu Dagang, will be vibrating in the air over Dushu Lake. And, with the settlement of the new campus with white-plastered walls and black roof-tiles in SIP, it will be a vivid interpretation of SIP's ancient flavor and modern fashion.

Under the initiation of Chen Yun (June 13, 1905 -- April 10, 1995), the revolutionary of older generation, Suzhou Pingtan School, the only school in China devoting to cultivating Pingtan talents, was founded in 1962.

The classroom resonant with mellow Suzhou dialect 

In Pingtan School, all the students have to learn authentic Suzhou dialect, Sanxian (three-stringed plucking instrument) and Pipa, and practice "speaking, joking, instrument play and singing". Only by mastering all the skills can the students carry on the traditional art.

The campus could rival with the beauty of the classical gardens.

"This is the combination of traditional art and modern culture, and the assimilation Wu culture into modern SIP. The settlement of the new campus of Pingtan School will become a spotlight of SIP culture and give impetus to SIP in creating the cultural highland in the period of transformation and upgrading," said Yang Zhiping, Deputy Secretary of SIP Party Working Committee and Director of SIPAC, in his speech at the opening ceremony.
