China Low-Carbon and Energy Development Forum Held in SIP

On March 6, International College (Suzhou Research Institute) of Renmin University of China, Petroleum Industry Press, and Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) Dushu Lake Higher Education Administration Office jointly held China Low-Carbon and Energy Development Forum and a publication ceremony for new books on low-carbon economy at International College. The scholars and experts discussed low-carbon issues and presented advice to local government on scientific and sustainable development.

SIP is actively exploring ways of developing low-carbon economy by bringing into full play the advantages of China-Singapore cooperation, the favorable ecological conditions, and policies in pioneering implementation so as to charter a development path that suits the integration of industrial park and new urban district. The purpose is to become the first pilot area featuring low-carbon economy in the country and to bring down the carbon emission by 50-55% in 2010 in comparison with the level in 2005.

The new books promoted at the meeting include Low-Carbon Economy: What Does China Tell Copenhagen with Action, World Carbon Market, an Analysis on its Situation and Future Trend. The representatives from several companies of typical low-carbon economy, including Pacific Millennium Holdings Corporation and Beijing Famed Machinery, introduced their low-carbon concepts and practices to the participants.
