SIP Holds Awarding Ceremony to Acknowledge Outstanding Units and Individuals

Centering on the established annual development goals of sustaining growth, promoting transformation, creating brand names, and emphasizing people's livelihood, Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) obtained satisfactory results through hard efforts in 2009. To recognize the units and individuals for their outstanding contributions in the past year, SIP authorities held an awarding ceremony on March 2 and cited 56 units, 55 role models, and 254 excellent individuals. Mr. Yan Li, Deputy Secretary of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Suzhou, delivered a keynote speech at the meeting and urged SIP administration to continuously lead the city's transformation and upgrading and to keep in mind the overall plan of building the city into a role model area with scientific outlook on development, a leading area featuring opening up and innovation, a pilot area in terms of integrated urban and rural development, a city with modern economy and high-end industries, a livable city with beautiful ecological environment, and a city combining historical cultural heritages with modern civilization.

 

SIP authorities give citations to 56 units, 55 pacesetters and 254 advanced individuals

According to official statistics, in 2009, the GDP achieved in SIP has grew by 15.1% to 112 billion yuan, local government budgetary revenue increased by 13.1% to 10.75 billion, the paid-up foreign capital amounted to 1.8 billion US dollars, the import and export value totaled at 51.28 billion US dollars, the annual investment in fixed assets grew by 8.1% to 49.2 billion yuan, the total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 22%, and the proportion of service sector in GDP rose by two percent in comparison with the previous year. Among these economic indices, SIP continuously leads among districts and towns in terms of the paid-up foreign capital and the investment in fixed assets, while its ranking on in local government budgetary revenue moves forward to the second.
