Prominent British Poet Benjamin Zephaniah to Lecture on Poetry on March 6

Benjamin Zephaniah, a British Jamaican Rastafarian writer and dub poet, will lecture on English poetry culture and art at the lecture hall of Comprehensive Building in Suzhou Dushu Lake Higher Education Town on the afternoon of March 6. The event is jointly organized by Suzhou Dushu Lake Theater Management Center, Culture and Education Section of British Consulate General, and Suzhou New Oriental School

Zephaniah is a well-known figure in contemporary English literature and was included in The Time's list of Britain's top 50 post-war writers in 2008. He once said that his mission is to fight the dead image of poetry in academia and to "take [it] everywhere" to people who do not read books.
