Suzhou Gets 60 Billion-Yuan Orders from Central State-Owned Enterprises

At the contract signing ceremony held on the afternoon of February 23 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the delegation of Suzhou Municipality signed the contracts with central state-owned enterprises (SOE) on 36 projects with a total value of 60.2 billion yuan. Nearly 350 representatives from more than 160 central SOEs, banks, national research institutes, colleges, and investment companies attended the event, discussing the city's development strategy on innovation, transformation, and upgrading. In addition, the city also managed to get 79 billion yuan loan to promote its rising industries, technological progress, cultural undertakings, tourism industry, as well as integrated urban and rural construction.

This is the first extensive cooperation between the city and the central SOEs in exploring ways to achieve win-win cooperation through joint efforts and innovation. The local officials introduced to the audience the goals of building Suzhou into a role model area with scientific outlook on development, a leading area featuring opening up and innovation, a pilot area in terms of integrated urban and rural development, a city with modern economy and high-end industries, a livable city with beautiful ecological environment, and a city combining historical cultural heritages with modern civilization. The administrative focus in the near future is to speed up its economic transformation and upgrading by promoting cooperation with central SOEs in the fields of sunrise sectors, advanced manufacturing, technology, independent innovation, and modern services.
