Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) recently announced the results of its Top 10 Craftsmen election, encouraging its staff to carry forward the "spirit of craftsmen" that usually features determination, patience and perseverance to achieve perfection. Zhang Yonghong, a research fellow and executive at CAS's Suzhou Institute of Nano-tech and Nano-bionics (SINANO), won the honor.

Zhang joined SINANO in October 2007, when he served as deputy director of Nano Fabrication Department and took the current post in 2015 as deputy director of Vacuum Nanotube Engineering Department.

Zhang has provided a perfect demonstration of the "spirit of craftsmen" in the workplace. His courage to take challenges for technological innovation and persistence to fulfill his duties eventually led his team to the success in building a world-leading simulation experiment and demonstration system for nanotube engineering.

"A good craftsman should be devoted to his or her duties and has the willpower to seek continuous perfection," Zhang said when talking about his comprehension of the "spirit of craftsmen".
