Dongshahu Residents Communicate Their Concerns to Local Officials

On the morning of December 21, officials of Suzhou Industrial Park went to Dongshahu Community and sat down with residents and listened to their complaints and suggestions. The attending officials included Wang Xiang, Standing Committee member of CPC Suzhou Municipal Committee and Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, Wu Hong, Deputy Secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee and Vice Director of SIP Administrative Committee, Director Ding Lixin of SIPAC Office, Chief Hua Xuexing of SIP Social Management Bureau, Chairman & President Xie Yihan of SIP Neighborhood Development, Secretary Shi Lian of CPC Dongshahu Community Committee, and Deputy Directors Cao Danan and Liu Aihua of Dongshahu Community Committee.

The topics discussed at the meeting covered extensive fields of public utilities, property management, traffic, and community services. Residents of Haishang and Jingcheng residential communities said the free parking lot to the north of Youth and Children Center were packed during rush hour and caused traffic jam along Nanshi Street. They proposed parking management to smooth the traffic. The residents from Zhongnan Residential Community said the drainage system outside south gate of Xiangsong Garden along east Shenhu Road would fail during storm season and hoped the local government would do something about it.

The officials listened carefully, answered some of the questions, and took notes on the issues requiring further notice. Wang said they would refer unsolved issues to the authorities in charge and he would personally ask them to come up with satisfactory solutions.

The routine visit by the officials to local communities is an important agenda of "Communicating Day", a program based on Singapore's practice as a "green window" for government to listen to the people, to resort to their wisdom, and to tackle with their concerns. The goal is to make sure that people benefit from SIP's economic growth and make contributions to its sustainability.
