SIP’s Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort (YLPTR) was declared a “Sports Tourism Demonstration Base of Suzhou” at the award ceremony held on Apr 19 at the 8th China (Suzhou) Cultural and Creative Design Expo, while China (YLPTR) Cycling Open, an annual event at YLPTR, was honored “High-Quality Travel and Competition Event of Suzhou”.

The awards are part of a series of awards jointly given by Suzhou Sports Bureau, Tourism Administration and Culture, Broadcasting and TV Bureau to a number of excellent sports tourism projects that incorporate tourist and sporting activities to give people unique recreational experiences.

YLPTR has made remarkable achievements in developing sports tourism in recent years. In addition to China (YLPTR) Cycling Open, which attracts over 1,000 participants each year, a variety of events such as orienteering and hiking take place in the area throughout the year to increase people’s interest in physical excises, advocate a low-carbon lifestyle and offer them chances to get close to nature.
