The 1st Byland Music Festival, one of a series of cultural, sports and recreational events hosted by SIP's Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort from late June to August, kicked off on July 7, attracting more than 3,000 folk music enthusiasts.

Six sought-after Chinese folkies and bands gave performances under the starry sky, telling stories about life with their beautiful songs which drew intermittent applause from the audience.

A series of parallel events started concurrently. For example, in one of them, poet Yu Xiuhua, lyricist Tang Yingfeng and photographer Yu Xiang shared their concepts on and passions for life and art, while over 30 creative works from around the country are on display at a bazaar.
