The selection process of the candidate projects for Suzhou City Level Sports Industry Development Guiding Fund 2016 concluded recently. "Cycling Encounter on Peninsula", a project proposed by Suzhou Yangchenghu Peninsula Tourist Resort (SYPTR), won a sum of guiding fund amounting to 300,000 yuan.

"Cycling Encounter on Peninsula" is a major brand activity that is based on SYPTR's lakeside cycle track (now 30 kilometers long) and features online and offline interactions. In recent years, Yangcheng Lake Peninsula has hosted a succession of sports events, such as alleycat race, 100km challenge, cycling marathon, bicycle carnival, 50km cycle coming-of-age ceremony, etc. in an effort to build a cycling culture that is green, healthy, low-carbon and environment friendly, and highlight the cycle experience that is natural, fashionable and fun.

In the future, the cycling project is expected to expand its influence from the Yangtze River Delta area to the rest of the country.

Suzhou began to set up the city level sports industry guiding fund in 2013. Every year a batch of successful candidate projects in such sectors as fitness service and training, sports equipment, sports venue operation, sports industry base, and sports tourism are able to win the support of the fund.

This year a total of 26 projects submitted applications, of which 14 sports industry projects received funding adding up to 4.8 million yuan, including the 300,000 yuan for "Cycling Encounter on Peninsula".
