The 5th Lake Cup Regatta set sail in drizzles on the morning of November 8 on Jinji Lake in Suzhou Industrial Park. A record fleet of 28 boats with 140 sailors will compete in this year's three-day event.

The team leaders received flags from three judges at the launching ceremony, and the sailboats left the dock at ten o'clock following the judge boat. They will compete in groups first to be qualified for the final and then fight for the first three places.

Unlike the previous four sessions, the organizer upgraded the original friendship competition of catamaran and trimaran to a separate category of Weta trimaran this year. A trimaran is a multi-hull boat consisting of a main hull and two smaller outrigger floats attached to the main hull with lateral beams. It is the most common sail-driven yacht designed for both recreation and racing. Ten teams signed up for this year's Weta trimaran.

In order to attract more audience, the organizer schedules a series of theme activities on bank, including painting bags, making and decorating cup cakes, creative market, food booth, "Lake Cup" Baby Fashion Contest, and Luomen Photography Competition.
