Lake Cup Regatta 2014 held a press conference on October 31 and announced the scheduled commencement on November 8-10 at Jinji Lake in Suzhou Industrial Park.

After strict screening procedures, 28 teams made it to the event in two categories of J80 and Weta, including several award-winning teams, two local teams, and 30% foreign sailors. A dozen teams signed up for the group of Weta trimaran, which is the first starting this year.

To get more publicity and encourage extensive participation, the organizing committee also plans a series of concurrent events, including a charity banquet raising money for the orphans losing parents to AIDS, a fashion baby competition, a food court, and a photography contest.

With water area of 7.4 square kilometers and average depth of 2.5-3 meters, featuring stable wind around the year and wide open lake area, Jinji Lake has become the permanent venue of the sailing match since 2013 and breaks the previous pattern of holding sailboat event in coastal cities only.
