SIP Fandao Food Technology Co Ltd, a company in SIP’s Yangcheng Lake Peninsula Tourist Resort (YLPTR), recently announced to invest RMB 50 million to set up an R&D center in TusPark Suzhou, YLPTR to develop patented fruit and vegetable juices made from agricultural produce sourced from Songtao Miao autonomous county, a poverty-stricken county in Southwest China’s Guizhou province.
This is the company’s second move to lend the county’s famers a hand in shaking off poverty. It launched a project last year to purchase organic agricultural produce from the county for production of Suzhou-style desserts and help transport agricultural produce out of the mountainous area for business purpose.
“The county is abundant with high-quality vegetables and crops that are good raw materials for making food products, but they are rarely marketed outside the county due to poor traffic conditions. Our products made of ingredients from Songtao are very popular in the market. So, we decided to expand the cooperation,” the company’s chairman Qiu Yuankai said.
