Kempinski Hotel Suzhou in SIP on Jan 13 organized an event at SIP’s Binhu Community in collaboration with the community’s Party committee and volunteers to offer local residents free Spring Festival couplets and wish them happy Chinese New Year. 

 

Chinese have the tradition to paste couplets on their doors and lintels on the Chinese Spring Festival which, also known as Chinese New Year, will fall on Jan 25 this year. It is a way to convey wishes for peace, fortune and good luck in the coming year. The hotel therefore initiated the event to give their Chinese New Year gifts to the community’s residents. 

 

In the event, several calligraphers from Hudong Calligraphy and Painting Club wrote Spring Festival couplets on site and presented them to the participating residents.
