Guo Xianghong, a doctor from SIP Xinghai Hospital, offered over 150 residents in SIP’s Donggang Xincun Residential Quarter free checkups along with a detailed account of symptoms for strokes and related preventive measures and therapies on Oct 25, several days before the World Stroke Day which is observed annually on Oct 29. The event was part of the hospital’s efforts in promoting prevention of strokes and rendering help to those who are suffering a stroke.

It is learnt that the hospital is undertaking a stroke screening and intervention project across SIP’s Loufeng Sub-district, giving public lectures on strokes on a regular basis to local residents and providing follow-up services to people at risk for a stroke. The hospital hopes this can help better prevent and control the disease that is now a leading cause of disability worldwide and second leading cause of death.
