The 8th Suzhou Dushu Lake Sino-Foreign Cultural Carnival kicked off in Dushu Lake Science & Education Innovation Zone (DLSEIZ), SIP on Oct 30. More than 1,000 Chinese and overseas teachers and students from over 10 local universities and colleges staged wonderful performances, offered dishes originating from their home countries and showcased their creative designs and inventions at the event.

DLSEIZ Administrative Committee hosts the carnival on a yearly basis since 2012 with the purpose of providing chances for people from different countries and regions to learn about different cultures and enhance their friendship.

Following the tradition, this year’s event includes a list of fantastic art performances given by students, many featuring interesting blending of Chinese and foreign cultural and art elements, and a food fair with 15 stalls offering food of Chinese and exotic styles.

The Creative Bazaar is a new addition. Lots of students participated with their designs, handiworks and projects. For example, Fatima Nasir, a Pakistani who is studying at Renmin University of China Silk Road School, showcased the Pakistani Mehndi craft, a form of body art of drawing decorative designs on hands.
