Annual dragon boat race to kick off soon

The latest news said the 2019 China Telecom “Hello 5G Cup” Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race is set to kick off at Moon Harbor on June 7, and 66 teams consisting of 1,348 people will compete in the 12-men and 12-women 300-meter straightaway races and 22-people 300-meter straightaway races. 

The dragon boat race, initiated in SIP in 2010, is an annual event to celebrate the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival which, reckoned on the fifth day of the fifth month on the Chinese lunar calendar, will fall on June 7 this year. It is also one of a series of events themed “Happy Time in Jiangsu” that are designed to offer opportunities for expatriates in Jiangsu province to take part in local activities. It is reported that this year’s event will see 238 contestants from over 20 countries and regions including Panama, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom and France.

The participating teams are now in training at Dushu Lake Park, a new training base with excellent facilities and support services for boat races.
