Suzhou Ballet Theatre (SBT) is staging its well-liked ballet The Nutcracker at Jiangsu Centre for the Performing Arts (JSCPA) on Feb 14 and 15. Different from other versions around the world, SBT's The Nutcracker boasts creative and unique adaptions.

SBT produced the ballet in 2013 on the basis of German author Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann's story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King".

"Both the performances and stage settings incorporate elements drawn from cartoons, fairytales and modern life so that they look quite different from other versions," SBT art director Li Ying said.

As the curtain rises, the story comes to life with the dancers in gorgeous costumes as well as intricate and stunning set designs. The beautiful Christmas tree, supermarket carts, roller skates and other enchanting adaptions make the production especially attractive to the audiences.
