SZSO to give a concert at UN headquarters

Suzhou Symphony Orchestra (SZSO) recently announced to join the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism's serial Chinese New Year celebrations to give a concert at United Nations' headquarters in New York City, the United States, on Feb 8 (local time). It is reported that the concert will be the first of its kind at the UN headquarters and, invited by the Permanent Mission of China to the UN Office, many of the representatives of UN member states will be present.

Music works to be performed then will include Frühlingsstimmen, L'Arlésienne and Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36, with which the overseas audiences must be quite familiar, and Spring Festival Overture, Jasmine Flower, Fantasy for Erhu and Orchestra, Horse Racing, Dance of the Yao People and Dunhuang, which highlight typical artistic characteristics of China's different ethnic groups. Chen Xieyang, renowned Chinese conductor and SZSO's music director, will lead the performance.

Moreover, diverse Chinese cultural and creative products will be displayed on site while a video will be played to help the audiences know better about Suzhou.
