Peking University Health Science Center joined hands with Suzhou Biomedical Research & Development Center (SBRDC), Suzhou KeyTest Diagnostics (SKTD) and a number of hospitals distributed across the country to launch the "China Common Tumors Big Data Research Plan" in SIP on Jan 26, aiming to provide sufficient and accurate basis for precise treatment of a variety of tumors with high incidence in the country.

According to Wang Weida, associate research fellow at SBRDC and marketing director at SKTD, the plan is expected to last five years to collect and study data on patients with tumors falling under the research scope.

"The research will cover the patients' gender, age, weight, lifestyle, medical history and family history, and also their genomes which are important indicators of tumors' biological characteristics," Wang said, hoping the research can help drive more effective diagnosis and treatment of tumors.

At the launching ceremony, an expert panel consisting of members from the involved parties was formed to provide support for the implementation of the plan.
