Suzhou Symphony Orchestra (SZSO) had the chance to share the stage with a number of renowned Chinese and overseas artists at the Chinese Symphony in Retrospect & the 6th China Symphony Festival (CSF) concert held at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA), Beijing, on Jan 15. In the event, the artists performed a list of symphonies created by Chinese composer Ye Xiaogang to commemorate the great Chinese writer and literary critic Lu Xun (1881-1936).

The event is the ninth leg of the 6th CSF, a nationwide concert tour sponsored by Chinese Musicians' Association and China Symphony Development Foundation to mark the 40th anniversary of the country's reform and opening-up and showcase Chinese musicians' attainments in symphony over these years. The other artists included German conductor Stefan Malzew, Chinese actor Wu Jing'an, and Chinese singers Song Yuanming, Zhu Huiling, Shi Yijie, Liu Songhu and Shen Yang.

This was the second time that SZSO gave performances at NCPA, following its first appearance on Apr 11, 2018 with a series of works by Chinese composer Zhu Jian'er. Not only that, it was not the first time that SZSO performed the Lu Xun series, since it performed the works at a concert of similar kind held in Shenzhen on Apr 28, 2018 as part of the 2018 "Belt and Road" International Concert Festival.
