The "Scholarly Sub-district" reading popularization program run by Weiting Sub-district Federation of Trade Unions (WSFTU) recently won the excellence award of the 2018 Suzhou Reading Festival Awards.

WSFTU initiated the program in 2017 to organize various events alone or in collaboration with social organizations to arouse its members' zest for reading. It is reported that the program in 2018 included a number of regular and serial events tailored for different groups, such as reading sessions for women and lectures for parents and kids, which played an important role in helping the participants develop their reading habits.
