Overseas returnees receive awards for devotion to good causes

SIP Charity Federation hosted a grand ceremony at Modern Building, SIP on Dec 20 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its founding and announce the winners of a set of awards for individuals and teams with remarkable contributions to good causes.Among the award recipients are two overseas returnees.

Tang Chongyan, founder of Mother Tang Charity Center, received the "Outstanding Charity Organization" award on behalf of her team.

The center has been engaged in helping kids with plights. What makes it the best-known is a program they launched in 2015 to donate high-tech water purification barrels to schools in poverty-stricken areas to ensure the students there have safe drinking water. The center organizes various events such as charity bazaars and concerts to collect money for the program. With the money, they have offered over 700 barrels along with thousands of gloves and hats to the needy children in West China.

Wu Jiayi, another overseas returnee and a volunteer at Mother Tang Charity Center, received the "Charity Star" award for her over 500 hours of volunteer services each year. It is learnt that Wu took part in more than 200 charity events and created a list of songs for public benefit from 2015 to 2018.
