SIP hosts work conference specific to reading popularization

The 2018 SIP Work Conference on Reading Popularization was held at SIP Library on Dec 26, gathering representatives from local publicity departments, libraries, communities, reading clubs and other related organizations.

The event included a roundup of SIP Library's endeavor and achievements over the past one year in celebrating and encouraging reading among the local residents. For example, it has set up 200 community-based service stations and organized over 2,000 reading activities so far this year.

Several representatives from grassroots reading service organizations such as home-based libraries and neighborhood centers shared their experience in helping residents develop the reading habit.

Wang Yao, chairman of Suzhou Federation of Literature and Art Circles and Suzhou Writers Association, and doctoral supervisor at School of Chinese Language and Literature at Soochow University, delivered a speech on reading.

He Wen, deputy director of SIP Administration of Culture, Sports and Tourism, revealed their next-step plans for improvement of reader services.

Apart from that, SIP Reading Map was unveiled, and a number of individuals and teams received awards for their excellent performance in various reading programs initiated by SIP authority and Suzhou government.
