A program called "Parents' Classes" is underway in Loufeng Sub-district. The local Working Committee on Women and Children, initiator of the program, hopes the serial events under the program will help residents with children gain new knowledge and skills that can enrich their life and be helpful for their parenting. In one of the events on Sept 6, about 30 people acquired a better understanding of traditional Chinese tie-dye.

Tie-dye is typically a process consists of folding, twisting, pleating, or crumpling fabric or a garment and binding with string or rubber bands, followed by application of dye(s). It has a history of about 1,500 years in China.

In the event, the teachers gave the participating mothers a detailed account of the technique's origin, historical evolution and characteristics, and demonstrated the manipulations to them. With the teacher's help and instruction, the participants made works bearing different patterns.
