SIP's Loufeng Sub-district held the Nandang Gorgon Fruit Festival at a local public service station on Sept 1, when thousands of visitors gained a good knowledge of the widely-known Suzhou specialty and the culture behind it.

There was an exhibition zone with text and photo displays about gorgon fruit's growth, edibleness and related culture. At the experience zone, visitors got chances to shell gorgon fruits and taste food made of them.Additionally, a booth attracted a long queue of people, each limited to a purchase of 0.5-kg gorgon fruits at a favorable price.

It is learnt that the sub-district this year saw over-12,000-mu (more than 800-ha) gorgon fruit field in five communities, and the local authority has invested RMB 3.2 million to help related processing factories improve their facilities, hoping that the harvest of the crops can lead to an increase of the growers' income.
