"Su Xin", a silvery container truck that departed from Stuttgart, Germany on Aug 22, passed the customs check at Horgos Port in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Aug 29, and is set to arrive at Suzhou on Sept 5. It is the first truck in the country to serve the Europe-China cargo transportation line, according to its operator Daoxin Supply Chain Management Co Ltd, a fourth party logistics service supplier based in SIP.

"The truck transportation is a supplement to the existing air, sea and railway transport modes. It takes nearly half of the time needed for railway delivery and costs 40% less than air freight. It is especially a good choice for medium and small bulk cargo owners who usually cannot meet the minimum amount for access to railway services," the company's general manager Hu Rongyi said.

Scheduled to travel more than 9,000 km through Germany, Poland, the Republic of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan and part of China, "Su Xin" is blazing a trail in facilitating cross-border business exchange. The transport mode is expected to be rolled out to other domestic cities and other countries and regions in the future.
