Suzhou Symphony Orchestra (SZSO) is expected to start its Asian tour in June, and Singapore will be the first leg. In their first visit to the country referred to as "Lion City", SZSO plans to perform a list of well-known Chinese and western symphonies and suites at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.

SZSO's music director Chen Xieyang who will lead the performance revealed the reason they chose these works, saying, "Since symphony originated from western countries, we selected the masterworks by Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev, a great composer of the former Soviet Union. However, we also hope to help the audiences know better about the development of this kind of music in China, so we have those by renowned Chinese composer Zhu Jian'er."

It is reported that, in addition to the concert, SZSO delegation will visit Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Chinese Orchestra and Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at National University of Singapore to seek future cooperation in performances and talent training.
