Lecture on Madrid System offered in SIP

SIP Market Supervision Bureau organized a lecture on Mar 9, with the purpose of enhancing local enterprises' awareness of trademark protection and helping them acquire a better understanding of the Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks (hereinafter referred to as the Madrid System). Representatives of more than 100 enterprises participated.

Zhang Junqin from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Office in China gave a specific introduction to the Madrid System, which, launched in 1891, offers a convenient and cost-effective solution for enterprises to register and protect their trademarks in up to 116 countries. She explained in detail who can use the system and how to use it.

After that, Zhang exchanged opinions on related issues with the participants and offered advice on what domestic brands should do to enhance their international competitiveness.
