Carrying their hand-made lanterns, 16 children from Fangyue Community walked over three bridges, namely, Chunpu Bridge, Qingfang Bridge and Lanyue Bridge at Xietang Old Street, SIP, on the afternoon of Feb 7 to greet the Lantern Festival in such a traditional way.

"Walking over three bridges" is a traditional activity dating back to Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368-1912), when, on Lantern Festival, people would go outing and cross bridges wherever there is one. People then believed that they could be immune to diseases and live a long life by passing three bridges on the day.
