Exhibition of ice and snow paintings unveiled

On the occasion of the second anniversary of China’s successful bidding for 2022 Winter Olympics, Feng Qing Oil Painting Exhibition entitled Charming Winter Olympics·Ice and Snow Passion, sponsored by Suzhou Sports Bureau, Suzhou Artists Association and Democratic Progressive Party Suzhou Committee, was unveiled at Ming Gallery of Art by Jinji Lake on Jan 21 and will last till Feb 12.

On display are 45 works of the beautiful ice and snow world in north China Feng painted with exquisite skills, which can arouse people’s confidence in holding an excellent and amazing Winter Olympics.

Graduated from Art Department of People’s Liberation Army Academy of Art, Feng is a national first-class artist and China’s first ice and snow painter. His paintings have been endowed the reputation of “Fairy of Snow Country”.

 Looking for the Trace of Spring

Born in northeast China, snow has always been a major theme in his creation. In order to promote the essence of ice and snow culture, he has created large amount of wonderful works over the past 40 years, filling the blank in the genre of ice and snow in China’s oil painting His works are featured by far-reaching artistic conception, expressing his passion and special feelings for life and nature.

Feng said that his childhood experience of making snowballs and snowmen and carving ice sculpture had accumulated abundant materials for his creation. His paintings eulogize the sports spirits of struggling with snow and ice and the positive energy of bravery, optimism, confidence and upwardness.

After the opening ceremony, Feng gave a lecture, the first of Ming·Appreciation Art Saloon in 2017 at Ming Gallery of Art and shared his ideas and experience in ice and snow painting with the audience.

Besides, he donated a painting to Jiangsu Speed Skating Team to express his support to the province’s sports cause.
